Karnataka MDS counselling for most government and private dental colleges is conducted by the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA). Students who target deemed universities in Karnataka usually need to follow MCC counselling instead of KEA.
Karnataka attracts students from across India because of its dental college ecosystem, Bangalore preference, clinical exposure in some institutions, and branch availability. 5. Eligibility & Documents
For Karnataka MDS counselling, the basic eligibility starts with NEET MDS qualification, BDS completion, internship completion, and dental council registration. But Karnataka-specific eligibility can become important when you look at seat types, domicile rules, and document verification.
I always tell students not to wait for the last date to understand eligibility. If your case involves non-Karnataka status, NRI documents, category certificate, minority status, or internship deadline issues, check it before counselling starts.
Eligibility Criteria
- Must qualify NEET MDS 2025 by scoring at least the prescribed qualifying cutoff/percentile.
- Must have completed BDS from a recognised dental college/institution approved by the competent dental authority.
- The internship must be completed on or before 31 March 2025 for NEET MDS 2025 eligibility.
- Must have valid Dental Council registration—State or Central Dental Council registration certificate is required for the counselling/admission process.
- Must register with KEA and complete document verification. Merely qualifying NEET MDS does not itself give admission eligibility.
- Must not already hold a PG degree in any clinical speciality. Such candidates are not eligible for another PG degree/diploma course.
- For Karnataka reserved/government quota seats, you must separately satisfy the relevant Karnataka eligibility clause and reservation requirements. Non-Karnataka candidates can register if they meet the General/UR qualifying standard, but they cannot claim Karnataka SC/ST/OBC reservation.
- For foreign BDS graduates, FMGE/screening-test qualification, registration, and internship proof are additionally required.
1. Documents for KEA counselling/document verification
- KEA PGET-2025 registration form printout.
- Photo ID and address proof: Aadhaar / passport / PAN / voter ID / driving licence / ration card.
- NEET MDS 2025 admit card.
- NEET MDS 2025 scorecard.
- 10th / SSLC marks card.
- 12th / 2nd PUC marks card.
- BDS marks cards of all years/phases.
- BDS degree/qualifying degree certificate.
- Provisional degree certificate, only if BDS was passed in 2025.
- Internship completion certificate in Annexure 5 format
- If the internship was only provisionally completed within the permitted date, keep the applicable Annexure 6 provisional certificate as well.
- Certificate from the Head of Institution stating that the BDS college is recognised by DCI/MCI.
- State or Central Dental Council registration certificate.
- KEA Annexure 7 undertaking:
- One copy on white paper.
- One on ₹20 e-stamp paper in the candidate’s name.
- Eligibility certificate, if applicable, for a university other than RGUHS.
- 371(j) / Kalyana Karnataka certificate, only if claimed.
2. NRI Ward documents — compulsory for this case
- Annexure 17 NRI Ward Certificate, properly filled by the NRI sponsor/guardian
- Signature of the Consulate General of India with Embassy Seal on Annexure 17
- Family Tree signed by the Tahsildar, proving the relationship between the candidate and the sponsor
- A notary family tree or relationship affidavit is not accepted
- Separate Embassy / Indian Consulate certificate of the sponsor
- must have Embassy seal
- should mention both the candidate’s and sponsor’s names
- must be issued within the previous six months
- A notary-signed embassy certificate is not accepted
- Sponsor’s bank passbook copy
- Sponsor’s passport copy
- Sponsor’s valid visa/resident visa copy.
3. Keep these only if applicable
- Karnataka caste / caste-income certificate, if claiming Karnataka reservation
- Relevant Karnataka eligibility-clause documents, if the candidate selected any special KEA clause
- PDC only where the candidate passed BDS in 2025
- FMGE/screening-test certificate only if the candidate completed BDS outside India
- OCI/PIO/foreign national documents only if the candidate has that status — these are not required for a normal Indian NRI Ward candidate.
4. Documents to keep ready for admission after allotment
- RGUHS eligibility certificate, if BDS was completed from a university other than RGUHS
- Migration certificate, if BDS was completed outside RGUHS
- Rural-service bond on ₹100 stamp paper — Annexure 1
- Three-year service undertaking on ₹200 stamp paper, notarised — Annexure 2; confirm exact applicability with KEA/allotted college based on the allotted seat category.
6. My Karnataka MDS Counselling Strategy
When I prepare a Karnataka MDS strategy for a student, I do not start by giving a long list of colleges. I first understand the student’s NEET MDS rank, category, branch preference, budget, Karnataka eligibility, location comfort, and whether they are open to non-Bangalore colleges.

My Personal Experience about KEA Counselling: I think KEA must be one of the most competitive or applied state counselling authorities for MDS in India. If there are any documentation errors or the missing of any documents, they will clearly reject your application/allotement.
And the allotment/reporting process will be offline, and they will be updating the dates a day before or on the same day. If you are a student staying far from Bangalore, then be prepared to travel during the counselling time.
I have mentioned this because I personally know students who have lost their seats because of reporting timeline issues.

From which dental college what you done your BDS? You can apply for government quota only if you are a domicile of Karnataka or what done your education for a period of time in Karnataka. Or else you are eligible only for P, Q or NRI quota.
