Deemed Admission Procedure in Maharashtra
One thing students often get confused about is which counselling to apply for: state or central?
Let me clear this major confusion first: Deemed colleges are NOT part of state counselling.
You have to apply through MCC’s All India Counseling at www.mcc.nic.in.
- Registration: Visit www.mcc.nic.in and register under the “Deemed University” category. You will need to pay both the registration and refundable security fees.
- Choice Filling & Locking: Fill in your college preferences carefully and lock them.
- Seat Allotment: MCC conducts counselling in 4 rounds: Round 1, Round 2, Mop-Up Round, and Stray Vacancy Round.
- Reporting: If you have been allotted a college, you must report to the college physically with the required documents.
IMPORTANT Things You Must Know
You must register for MCC counselling. Without registering and attending counselling, you won’t be eligible for any deemed seat, no matter what
NEET qualification is mandatory. Without qualifying for NEET, you cannot take admission in any deemed college. Please beware of fraudulent agents who promise seats without NEET. It’s a scam.
Proper documentation is essential. Every year, I come across students who lose their seats due to missing or incorrect documents.
Documents Required for Admission
Carry both originals and photocopies of the following documents:
- NEET Admit Card.
- NEET Scorecard.
- Class 10 Marksheet.
- Class 10 Passing Certificate.
- Class 12 Marksheet.
- Class 12 Passing Certificate.
- Transfer Certificate.
- Migration Certificate.
- Conduct/Character Certificate.
- ID Proof (Aadhaar/PAN/Passport).
- MCC Allotment Letter.
- 10 Passport-size Photos.
- Caste Certificate (if applicable).
*Carry extra photocopies too.
Tips to Choose a Deemed Medical College
With so many colleges, deciding which one is good is a bit troublesome. That’s why these are my personal tips from the past 10 years of experience.
- Patient Flow & Patient Exposure
Will you get enough clinical exposure? A college should have a busy hospital where students get to see and interact with patients every day.
- Faculty
Make sure the college has experienced and full-time faculty. Because what you need is proper guidance from regular, dedicated teachers who are available when you need them.
- Labs & Equipment
Check if the labs are modern and updated. They should have proper OT (Operation Theatre), radiology departments, and machines like CT, MRI, etc.
- Total Fees
Always look for the total fee structure. Find out how much you will be paying in total, including hostel fees, mess fees, caution deposits, and other hidden fees. Some colleges might appear affordable initially, but the overall package may be higher.
- Location
Think about travel and accessibility. Is the college easily reachable by train, bus, or flight? This matters especially if you are from a different state.
- Student Feedback
If possible, try to get in touch with someone who is already studying there or recently graduated. Their experiences, both good and bad, will help you understand better.
Conclusion
Maharashtra is one of the most demanded states for deemed medical college admissions. It is mainly because of the quality of the colleges, and Maharashtra is a closed state for counselling, in which students from other states can only apply in deemed medical colleges.
In this post, I have tried my best to explain about deemed medical colleges in Maharashtra, their fee structure, seat intake, and much more. If you have any doubts regarding this article, you can comment below, and I will try my best to reply as soon as possible.
